With fashion week drawing to a close in NYC, the popular winner was definitely Target’s Missoni collection. Not only was the collection a success with its bold colorful patterns and daring ensembles but the advertising campaign created long lines in the pop-up Manhattan store and sold out merchandise, all across the country, in a matter of hours.
This continues Targets long success of bringing big name designers to the masses. My personal favorite is Michael Graves home collection. However, working with Missoni, one of the worlds venerable fashion houses, Target taps into the public’s desire to bring color, pattern and whimsy to a public who desperately needs their spirits lifted in the midst of a stagnating economic recovery.
In addition to fashion many designers are also collaborating on architecture. The featured hotel interior above is of Hotel Missoni -Edinburgh Scotland. This hotel has not received a lot of press in the US but it’s a great example of how a strong design aesthetic can be translated to Interior Design and Product Design.
